A Gilt-Lacquered Figure of Guanyin

Ming Dynasty

The cast bronze figure of Guanyin seated on a mythical beast called a lion, the goddess of mercy and compassion. She is a form of the Buddhist bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, with a serene expression. The Guanyin, portrayed in voluminous robes patterned with incised with flowers .She is seated upon a mythical lion on a  lotus stand, both hand holding a ruyi scepter.

Age discolored, scratches, tarnished.
